If you’ve ever considered becoming a patient care assistant our in-depth curriculum could help you learn important fundamental, practical skills involved in this career. For each patient, a patient care assistant is responsible for assisting in activities of daily life, including helping to manage the residential environment, patient safety, infection control, personal care, hygiene, and meals. They are also responsible for recording services performed, as well as the patient's condition and progress.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- List the skills and qualities of the patient care assistant
- Recognize resources in the community that assist the client at home
- Identify strategies for infection control, disease prevention, and safety precautions in the home
- Define the important parts of each body system and their functions
- Recall methods for assisting clients with daily living activities

Education and National Certifications:
- Students should have or be pursuing a high school diploma or GED.
Students who complete this program will be eligible to sit for:
- NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) certification exam
